acc to me possible bug may be not able to execute following command on powershell (as this command is not working)
PRIVATE_KEY_PASSWORD=password node deploy.js
and is showing this error

@harsh-na You should use the bash terminal to run this command to pass the password.

yes sir I have a .env file and it looks like this

But sir I had commented it as I intended to pass URL and private key through git bash

@harsh-na Sorry, but I am not able to understand your issue exactly.

If you do not want to put the private key inside .env file then you need to just encrypt the private key and store it inside a file which you will read in the deploy script (as you already have done). Now for running the deploy script you need to pass a password with your command (in your case PRIVATE_KEY_PASSWORD=your-pass node deploy.js) so your deploy script can decrypt the private key from your provided file. And for it, I said to use Git Bash and you already confirmed that it is working then what is the issue exactly?

sir let me clear what I want as I am following course

1. I had passed PRIVATE_KEY and RPC_URL in cmd -> which generates .encryptedKey.json == it works
2. now I am trying to run command ( PRIVATE_KEY_PASSWORD=password node deploy.js ) on git bash
   -> what patrick at TimeStamp(7:47:41) get is

-> and what I am getting is some sort of long thing which is not understandable by me
(I have the issue here only)

Please correct me if I am logically wrong anywhere

@harsh-na Nope, the first step should be like this; let's say for now just we want to use the Private key.

1. You define the PRIVATE_KEY=your-key and PRIVATE_KEY_PASSWORD=password in env file.
2. Then you run the encryptKey.js script, which will convert the private key into encrypted form.
3. Then you remove the PRIVATE_KEY and PRIVATE_KEY_PASSWORD from env (optional, it demonstrates that now we do not need those from env file).
4. you run the PRIVATE_KEY_PASSWORD=password node deploy.js command.

Now you need to do the same for RPC_URL but need to change the file in encryptKey.js so the encrypted rpc stored in another file which you can decode in deploy.js file

@harsh-na ADD require("dotenv").config() at the top if you have not already.

Or it might be that you've edited the .env file and forgotten to save it. Hence the script won't see the new entry.

I encountered the same error today. And this is what worked for me:

I changed the following code in deploy.js:

let wallet = new ethers.Wallet.fromEncryptedJsonSync(encryptedJson);

to this:

let wallet = new ethers.Wallet.fromEncryptedJsonSync(
    encryptedJson,
    process.env.PRIVATE_KEY_PASSWORD
  );

And AWESOME! IT WORKED!!
So basically I had just not sent the right number of parameters into the "fromEncryptedJsonSync()" function 😅
