lesson 3: PLEASE HELP! I Can No Longer Deploy to Remix VM (London)

Hi All,

Before I was able to deploy the SimpleStorage.sol to Remix VM (London) with no problem but today I started lesson 3 and tried to deploy the StorageFactory.sol to Remix VM (London) however it now won't let me and under "CONTRACT" in the "DEPLOY & RUN TRANSACTIONS TAB" it says "evm version: shanghai" and when I hover the cursor over this message it says "Please make sure that the current network is compatible with this evm: shanghai. Otherwise any deployment will fail." Now when I try deploying the SimpleStorage Contract from the SimpleStorage.sol which I was able to deploy from the Remix VM (London) previously I get the same message. (Please see screenshot below)

I noticed the "ACCOUNT NUMBER" in the "DEPLOY & RUN TRANSACTIONS TAB" has now changed from what it was when I was deploying to the Remix VM (London) before (it used to end in 9138 and now now no matter what Remix VM I select it ends in 5cb2. Not sure if this has anything to do with why I cant deploy to Remix VM (London) now. If I select Remix VM (Shanghai) this issue goes away.

Please could somebody explain what is going on, why I can no longer deploy to Remix VM (London) and help me to again deploy to Remix VM (London) like I was able to previously.

I am new to coding and blockchain so if I have left anything out please let me know.

Remix London got probably deprecated as I cannot deploy to it either, but it doesnt matter to, which EVM you will deploy. Just use Shanghai and everything will be the same it is not issue or error to worry about.

This is the first time I have come across the term "depreciate" for test nets. Just looked into it and understand what you mean now in that the London EVM has probably depreciated. Thanks for taking the time out to provide this info. Hope it helps anyone else who may be new to coding and is a bit confused about this like I was.

I'm glad i could help mate. You will soon find out that a lot of things are already deprecated and you will need to adapt as this coding environment is evolving fast and there are tons of updates/changes :)
