perform action set variable in script/automation UI isn't showing a value input box or a place to put value to set the var to.

When I use the UI to set a variable I don't see a way to give the UI a value (pic1)? And the resulting yaml doesn't have a value (pic2). If I write the yaml myself it executes corrrectly. The yaml I wrote myself when viewed in the UI shows the value but not the variable (pic3).
