Issue: mk-livestatus module causes Nagios 4.5.9 segmentation fault on Ubuntu 24.04

Hello,
I'm currently trying to integrate Thruk 3.22 with Nagios Core 4.5.9 on Ubuntu 24.04, and I’m facing a critical issue with the mk-livestatus module.

✅ What I’ve done:

• Installed Nagios Core 4.5.9 successfully from source.

• Installed and configured Thruk.

• Installed mk-livestatus v1.5.0p25, compiled it using:

  ./configure --with-nagios4
  make
  sudo cp src/livestatus.o /usr/local/lib/mk-livestatus/livestatus.o

• Configured nagios.cfg with:

  broker_module=/usr/local/lib/mk-livestatus/livestatus.o /usr/local/nagios/var/rw/live
  

❌ The problem:

Every time I start Nagios, it crashes immediately with a segmentation fault. Here’s the error:

Segmentation fault
nagios.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=254

I tried replacing the livestatus.o binary with one from Checkmk 2.4.0 Raw edition, but Nagios refuses to load it:

Could not load module '/usr/local/lib/mk-livestatus/livestatus.o' -> file not found

Environment:

• Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (64-bit)
• Nagios Core 4.5.9
• Apache2 2.4.58
• Thruk 3.22
• Tried both mk-livestatus 1.5.0p25 and Checkmk 2.4.0 versions

What I’m asking:

• Is there a known compatible version of mk-livestatus for Nagios 4.5.9?
• Is there any recommended way to build or patch livestatus.o for this environment?

tbh, this is the wrong project to ask this question. Either ask the nagios or the checkmk guys. This
project is not affiliated with either of them.

If you only use Nagios and Thruk, you might want to have a look at naemon.io It comes with a ready to use livestatus deb pkg.
