need clarification on when to use Redis Adaptor

In the doc, there's one line saying "Please note that if you have several hosts each running a PM2 cluster, you will have to use another adapter, like the Redis adapter."

can someone elaborate what is "several hosts each running a PM2 cluster" , please?
