Text is crammed together in the editor with no whitespace #259

Describe the bug
There is no whitespace between elements in the editor. Everything is crammed together very tightly. It looks bad.

Expected behavior
Even though there are no APIs to control the spacing around different elements in the editor, there should at least be some sensible defaults that looks reasonable in common use cases.
