Couldn't get multi-user setup to work with Jira and Confluence DC

Unsure if anyone else have tried that.

I am trying to get a multi-user setup to work, here is the setup I am working on:

• Claude Desktop users would connect to mcp-atlassian server VM using remote MCP
• mcp-atlassian is masked by nginx reverse proxy using HTTPS for additional security
• PAT is used for authentication.
• mcp-atlassian would connect to Jira DC and Confluence DC via HTTPS
• everything is inside the same network

I tried to follow the instructions laid out in the steps under the Multi-User Authentication Setup documentation, but I find it rather confusing.

Step 1 is asking to run the OAuth setup wizard, but isn't that for cloud only instances?
Yet in step 3, there is a talk of using PATs with Atlassian server/DC setups.
But in step 4, there are number of env. variables regarding OAUTH that have to be setup.

Another problem I have noticed is that Claude Desktop never likes the suggested PAT example when it loads claude_desktop_config.json and produces a syntax error message.

Has anyone here gone through that? What did you have to do to achieve a setup like this?
