I believe that all roundstart species should go though a 2-week test merge period and require a normal majority. |

We're not putting species to a vote every single time. If you have issues with a species being added or not being added that cannot be resolved within their respective discussion threads, then there are several other forks for you to play on that may better suit you. |

Species are tone setting for the game, so should require passing community approval as well as maintainer approval.
While maintainters can assess technical details alone, when it comes to how much players will like or dislike a core change they can only conjecture. Conjecture should not be enough, poll data should back it.
Community approval should be assessed via ingame lobby pollings (lrp and mrp), as this represents the average players more than github or discord.
A supermajority of 75% should be required as to not have polls pass with little to no effort.
Alternatively taken after live testing instead of pre-merge?
Since the freeze is ongoing without the design document being complete, this is the perfect time to suggest such details.
