cannot be accessed error when running media-library:regenerate on queue worker, while disk works in CLI

I’m encountering a "Disk named s3 cannot be accessed" error when running media conversions via the queue worker, even though the S3 disk is fully functional from the CLI/Tinker.

Versions

• Laravel: 11.44.2
• spatie/laravel-medialibrary: 11.12.9
• PHP: 8.3
• Queue driver: redis (via Supervisor on Ploi)
• Storage: AWS S3

Steps to Reproduce

1. I have a model implementing HasMedia and registerMediaConversions with S3 as the disk_name.

2. The media is stored on s3 disk, confirmed in DB (disk column is s3).
3. Run in CLI:

   php artisan tinker
   >>> Storage::disk('s3')->put('__ping.txt', 'ok'); // true
   >>> Storage::disk('s3')->delete('__ping.txt'); // true

   This works fine.
4. Run:

   php artisan media-library:regenerate --ids=4 --only=landscape_3_2 --force

   which dispatches jobs to the queue.
5. On the queue worker logs, I see:

   Spatie\MediaLibrary\MediaCollections\Exceptions\DiskCannotBeAccessed: Disk named `s3` cannot be accessed
   

Expected behavior

If the disk is configured correctly and works from the CLI, the queue worker should also be able to access it.

Actual behavior

• Disk is accessible in CLI/Tinker and via Storage::disk('s3')->put()
• Queue worker throws DiskCannotBeAccessed when conversions are performed.
• The error occurs on PerformConversionsJob.

Additional Information

• config('filesystems.disks.s3') !== null is true in CLI.
• env('AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID'), AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY, AWS_DEFAULT_REGION, and AWS_BUCKET are all set and correct.
• filesystems.php includes:

Question

Is there anything in Media Library’s PerformConversionsJob or Filesystem logic that could cause DiskCannotBeAccessed when the disk works fine in CLI, but fails inside a queued job? Could the job be resolving config before Laravel loads the filesystem disk?

I’ve identified the issue — it was caused by thecustom_properties column on older media records. Once I cleared that column, everything started working as expected!
