How can I update the skeleton underlying a project that starts from it?

I made a package from this skeleton a while ago, and I'd like to update the skeleton underneath it. But when you use the skeleton as a template, it breaks the link to the underlying repo (as it's not a fork). Do I have to do a manual merge or rebase and a load of conflict resolution, or is there some easier way?

You'll have to manually update it. The skeleton is only a starting point.
