Error using latest pyscript

I set

pyscript_js = "https://pyscript.net/releases/2025.11.2/core.js"
pyscript_css = "https://pyscript.net/releases/2025.11.2/core.css"

in conf.py and as a result the py-repl directive no longer seems to work at all, I just the code formatted in plain text on the page. I get the JS error: Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token 'export'.

I tried adding type="module" on line

sphinx-pyscript/src/sphinx_pyscript.py

Line 120 in 37baf79

app.add_js_file(app.config.pyscript_js, loading_method="defer")

and this took care of the JS error (and I see a reasonable amount of JS code for pyscript loaded using devtools) but I'm still seeing the same behaviour with py-repl.

Looking a little deeper it looks like the syntax for embedding scripts might have changed. I notice in sphinx_pyscript.py it uses <py-script> but according to the latest docs scripts are embedded like
