I'm currently working on a distributed database called Holster. It runs on Node, Deno and Bun, as well as in the browser. It started as a port of GunDB but is now an ESM native application. It has many new features including intelligent storage and request queuing. It is designed to only store data a user might be interested in, not the whole distributed graph.

Since the 2.0 release, Holster is now performing as a reliable storage layer for applications. The next step for the database is to add WebRTC support to decrease network load on servers and make Holster a truly peer-to-peer system.

The first application I've developed with Holster is RSStream. It's a feed reader that works offline by storing all data in Holster and the service worker cache. This application will form the basis of future projects, join as a sponsor to decide what they are! Accounts that are created in RSStream are not limited to this application. This is because they are created in Holster, and all projects share the same distributed database. Each project will store its own data, but identity is federated thanks to a shared architecture between each of the projects that support it.
