Have a look at #1206 More control of managing clipping is something that a number of us are keen to see. There's been quite a discussion on what this might look like |

I have my own automation that force-discharges at 8am based on the solar forecast, but that's entirely outside predbat (and therefore will confuse the plan). A more predbat-friendly solution could be to have a configurable 'max soc' soft limit which could be used to reserve some capacity, and can be set from outside predbat by an automation, so I put in an FR for that. |

Hi All,
I am wondering if anybody is thinking on working on proactive battery discharge feature?
I believe most of us have oversized systems, e.g.: I have 3.6kW inverter and 7.3kW panels (the max accoring to the inverters datasheet), given UK climate and the fact that batteries can be charged independently from the inverter. The issue starts when there is more than 3.6kW production and the batteries are full as clipping starts.
Wondering if anybody is working on a feature to, given the foreast and current SOC, enable discharge before the battery is full and therefore prevent clipping later.
If nobody is working on it, I am happy to do so, just. wanted to check before enbarking on dev work.
