Weird button appears on top of console when Status bar is disabled

I just updated from Spyder 5.5.something to 6.1.2, and i noticed this weird button just above my console tab

i'm not sure why it's like this, if i click on it another button appears at the top of the screen, saying "Change default environment in preferences..."

Its existance bother me, is it possible to delete that button, or do i need to do something in the settings ?

Hey @OshidaBCF, thanks for reporting. This is very weird and it shouldn't be happening.

To better understand your problem, let us know how you installed Spyder and command or tool you used to update it.

i had 5.5.X installed but i don't remember how exactly, i think it was standalone ?

To update i first tried "checking for update" in the app, it said it couldn't connect to the internet

so i tried pip install -U spyder which did "something" but when i start spyder it still was 5.5.X

but after a couple second i had a "new update available" notification, so apparently pip update fixed the update checker

i then installed spyder using that and it installed spyder 6.1.2, with normal spyder still installed but i didn't wanted to break something again so i haven't installed it

Thanks for the extra info. Unfortunately pip installations are for experts because they can lead to serious package inconsistencies, which could be the cause of the errors you're seeing.

So, please remove that Spyder version and install Spyder with our own standalone installer:

That should solve your problem.

I will try that, i just have to export my settings first

I completely uninstalled spyder from my pc, rebooted and reinstalled using the website installer, but the "button" is still here

So i tried doing the "reset to default" button, and that worked, i made a backup of the settings so i can recopy "most" of them but that's a little annoying, i'll add another message when i find what line causes the error

if i enable it (editing spyder.ini) the button shows "correctly" in the status bar

Looking at the in app settings, the "hide status bar" is no longer available, so i guess it doesn't like when i remove it

Yes, you're right! I'm able to reproducing your problem after disabling the status bar.

That's still possible in Preferences > Plugins and then looking for Status bar:
