Good pattern for staying up-to-date with the main project

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has figured out a good way to stay up-to-date with the main project's releases while maintaining a fork with custom SQLite extensions? By "good", I mean as low maintenance as possible. So if it is fully automated, that's ideal.
