Prettify search previews for tabs/tables?

Search previews for tabs are hard to read. They are basically an un-human-readable jumble of text, and highlighting 'leaks':

(FWIW, I'm seeing the same for breadcrumbs with https://github.com/mihaigalos/mkdocs-breadcrumbs-plugin, but not sure if that's relevant.)

Is there a built-in way to prettify these search previews?

I did find #4278, but that's not necessarily about these two elements.

Found this while searching for a solution as well.
This is indeed quite a problem, especially if a documentation consists mostly out of tables.
Not only is the content quite unreadable, the search preview also expands into giant chunks of content as outlinied in #4728.

Could this be considered a bug?

I wouldn't classify this as a bug; it's not that something isn't working, it's that something is unhandy. I would therefore classify it as a usability issue.

I agree that I wouldn't regard this as a bug. It's essentially a decision of what needs to get stripped, as we probably shouldn't include the complete HTML of the site in the search. You can open a feature request for improving handling of search results, and we'll add it to the backlog for prioritization. Maybe we can even make this configurable, but not sure if it's worth the effort.

To be clear: more markup, means better rendering, but also bigger search index. It's a trade-off.
