Dear srsRAN community,
We are excited to share a new tool, ProtO-RU (https://github.com/NUS-CIR/ProtO-RU), developed by our team at NUS as part of our on-going research.
ProtO-RU is software implementation of an O-RAN split-7.2 compatible Radio Unit using software-defined Radios (SDRs). In short, ProtO-RU allows one to setup an end-to-end O-RAN 7.2 testbed using existing SDRs like the B210.
To achieve ProtO-RU, we extend the existing srsRAN RU emulator while reusing existing srsRAN software libraries such as the OFH, low PHY and UHD.
To put it briefly, ProtO-RU has been integrated with both OAI and srsRAN, and tested to be working with commercial UEs; it can also be used in both TDD and FDD modes. Here is a short video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSdTqXCAuGs, that we have prepared demonstrating ProtO-RU in-action.
We would greatly appreciate any feedback or thoughts on ProtO-RU from the community. At the same time, we’re excited to see what the community can build using ProtO-RU!
