Plan to support STAC Specification v1.1.0?

Hi,

Thank you for maintaining stac-pydantic. I'm currently researching tools related to STAC and came across this project. I see that it currently targets STAC 1.0.0. Since STAC 1.1.0 has been released in Sep 11, 2024, do you have any plans or a timeline for adding official support for v1.1.0?

None that I know of. We're (Development Seed) aren't currently putting anything other than maintenance time into this repo AFAIK. Others might be doing more, so they should chime in if so!

@ismailtzn are you running into a specific problem? I opened this issue a few months ago but realized that the problem was just due to running an old version of stac-pydantic which would not accept any version greater than 1.0.0.

With the latest version of stac-pydantic, you can specify the STAC spec version with the stac_version argument (which defaults to 1.0.0):

Actually, I haven't run into a specific problem yet. I'm currently exploring open source projects related to STAC to understand which STAC versions they support and I can use. I noticed that stac-fastapi-pgstac, which seems to be one of the most widely used projects, relies on stac-pydantic for its STAC model definitions, and the STAC version displayed on its landing page is directly sourced from stac-pydantic.

From what I can see, the STAC version supported by stac-fastapi-pgstac is effectively limited by what stac-pydantic provides. I thought about asking this question in the stac-fastapi-pgstac repository as well, but before doing so, I wanted to check if there are any ongoing development activities or needs for newer STAC version support in this project.
