Git status does not show anything #1761

Description

Describe the bug

When I run git status in the terminal, the terminal just hangs. I cannot run any git related commands in the terminal at all. Normal commands work just fine though. I have been having this issue since yesterday. Before that everything was working just fine, I could run my node project just fine and use git commands. The node code is on the react branch of my repository.
