Resume from last preset on restart

Every time Ignitron is turned off, it forgets what preset it played last. At least as I use it I frequently return to the last used preset when I start up my Amp.

Would it not be a great idea if Ignitron saved the last used preset in the file system and on restart resumed from that? Also, on a power out issue, even on stage, I would assume it would be nice to have it automatically resume the preset of what you where just playing.

A restart where this would kick in is would be from boot or from an idle noconnection state.

@barsk I had to do a decision on which system is master when it comes to reconnects.
I thought it would be best to have the Amp as the master, this is also how the Spark app works.
The only caveat is that the Spark GO reverts to a HW preset in case of a disconnect and this cannot be avoided.
I think this behaviour is the most consistent.

@barsk The way you describe I had implemented before and it did not work 100%, maybe because I did not differentiate by amp. I have changed this back to loading preset by number, not the actual preset. I am reading the amp's serial number at the beginning and am using this in the file name. I also used this pattern for the HW checksum files, so the cache does not need to be refreshed when switching between amps.
Please try if this works better and let me know which version is more stable (or if you experience any other issues).

Apologies for not coming back to you on this issue. I must confess I got caught in MS Flight Simulator 2024. :)

@stangreg The latest code (1.8.8) with just the preset numbers getting saved for resume seems to work nicely! I could not force any errors during my testing with on/off on both devices in different orders and on both the extended and HW banks. Seems to work fine!

No, sorry to say I am a student of the guitar, and just about trying to get to grips with it all. I can play simple songs and have started to venture further into blues/bluesrock and (some) lead. But I have a long way to go before i would even try to play for an audience. It is a fun hobby though and as I have taken over my sons Squire Strat since he upgraded. He is a splendid guitar player,(not playing live either though) but unfortunately he has a Boss Katana and cannot as of now take the benefits of the Ignitron. I have invested a bit of time in understanding the ins and outs of electric guitars and actually right now a better guitar technican than a musician. I know how to set string height, neck relief, pickup height and intonation and whatever and can even make a perfect custom nut with some special (expensive) tools. Also changed the pickups for better ones. So that guitar is now as good as it can be. But play a solo I cannot. Yet. 😃
Beginning the guitar at the age of 58 is a bit late perhaps. 😄
