📋 Master Document Checklist for Spousal Green Card

✅ USCIS Stage - Form I-130 Packet

Required Forms

  • Form I-130 (signed and dated)
  • Form G-1145 (for email/text notifications) - optional but recommended
  • Check for $675 (payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security)

Petitioner (US Citizen) Documents

  • Proof of US Citizenship (one of the following):
    • US Passport (copy of biographical page)
    • Birth Certificate
    • Certificate of Naturalization
    • Certificate of Citizenship
  • Proof of Name Changes (if applicable):
    • Court orders
    • Marriage certificates
    • Divorce decrees

Beneficiary (Chinese Spouse) Documents

  • Passport biographical page (copy)
  • Birth certificate (with certified English translation)
  • Previous Marriage Documents (if applicable):
    • Divorce decree (with certified English translation)
    • Death certificate of former spouse (with certified English translation)

Marriage Evidence

  • Marriage certificate (with certified English translation)
  • Photos (organize chronologically):
    • Dating period photos
    • Wedding ceremony photos
    • Honeymoon photos
    • Photos with family members
    • Recent photos together
  • Financial Evidence:
    • Joint bank account statements (12 months)
    • Joint credit card statements
    • Joint loans or mortgages
    • Joint tax returns (if filed)
  • Cohabitation Evidence:
    • Lease agreements with both names
    • Utility bills with both names
    • Joint property ownership
  • Communication Evidence:
    • Email exchanges
    • Chat/messaging logs
    • Phone records
    • Letters/cards
  • Other Evidence:
    • Insurance policies listing spouse as beneficiary
    • Children's birth certificates

✅ NVC Stage Documents

Form I-864 Package

  • Form I-864 (Affidavit of Support)
  • Tax Documents (last 3 years):
    • IRS tax transcripts (preferred) or tax returns
    • W-2s
    • 1099s (if applicable)
  • Current Employment:
    • Employment verification letter
    • Recent pay stubs (6 months)
  • Assets (if using to qualify):
    • Bank statements (12 months)
    • Investment account statements
    • Property appraisals
    • Vehicle titles

Civil Documents (Beneficiary)

  • DS-260 confirmation page
  • Passport
  • Birth certificate (original + translation)
  • Marriage certificate (original + translation)
  • Police certificates from:
    • China (current residence)
    • Any country lived in for 12+ months after age 16
  • Military records (if applicable)
  • Court records (if applicable)
  • Previous US immigration documents (if any)

✅ Interview Stage Documents

Medical Examination

  • Medical exam appointment confirmation
  • Vaccination records
  • Sealed medical exam envelope (DO NOT OPEN)
  • Copy of vaccination worksheet

Interview Packet

  • Interview appointment letter
  • DS-260 confirmation page
  • Valid passport
  • All original civil documents
  • Form I-864 original
  • Updated financial documents
  • Recent photos together
  • Any RFE responses

📝 Translation Requirements

All documents not in English must include:

  • Original document
  • Certified English translation
  • Translator's certification statement
