[Non Issue] gst wpesrc docker build

Apologies for creating an issue to reach out to you. I noticed on the gstcefsrc issue tracker you mentioned you were using wpesrc in a gstreamer wayland build. I have attempted to get this going, and was wondering if you have any pointers on building wpe? Also wanted to ask you if you were able to use the GPU with wpesrc? It gives me a bit of hope that someone got wpesrc going in a docker image. I have struggled with cefsrc. Thanks.

@SteveMcFarlin, have you looked into restreamio's docker gstreamer repo?

I believe their use-case is software-only rendering in the cloud, but as of this year they're building both WPE (with some custom patches) and CEF from source and so there's a lot you can glean from seeing how they do things.

I've been using a heavily modified fork of their repo to build a Wayland-only gstreamer and enable hardware rendering where it makes sense for me.

But because building WPE takes forever (at least on my 12-core Ryzen) and I didn't want to use SCCACHE, I've started using WPE from the Debian experimental repo (I'll copy the .so into the container before building the gstreamer WPE plugins), and at least for my use case I haven't run into any issues yet. And this is with hardware rendering.

One more thing to note, I work around the difficulty of making hardware acceleration inside docker containers actually work by using Distrobox.

Lastly, if you still find yourself running into a wall getting this to work, I highly recommend the gstreamer developer's IRC channel. They're receptive to questions and have pointed me in the right direction a few times in the past and I'm grateful for it.
