Cannot list kafka topics using bin/kafka-topics.sh --list

From inside the kafka broker POD not able to list the topics. I can see the topics in "kubectl get kafkauser" output.

[kafka@test-kafka-kafka-0 kafka]$ ./bin/kafka-topics.sh --bootstrap-server test-kafka-kafka-bootstrap:9092 --list

[kafka@test-kafka-kafka-0 kafka]$ echo $?
0

Why I need this?

I am using MM2 in A/P manner, I need to see the consumer group offset on source and target cluster to ensure that offset is replicated.

someone encounter this issue before also.
