Upgrading from 0.26.0 to 0.35.1

We are upgrading from 0.26.0 to 0.35.1 and the operator is running fine. But it is not triggering rolling updates for any other pods and we are seeing this logs.

1. How to get the strimzi related pods to be part of StrimziPodSets instead of StatefulSets?
2. Do we need to create StrimziPodSets manually or are we missing sometihng?

The upgrade automatically rolls the pods from StatefulSets to StrimziPodSets.

However, I have already updated the kafka.spec.kafka.version to 3.4.0 from 2.8.2.

That error suggests that you are running Kafka 2.8.2 -> but there is no Strimzi versions that uses/supports Kafka 2.8.2. So that suggests you use some custom build or something. That makes it quite hard to comment on how it does or does not work.

I guess you would need to either hack with the annotations which store this information or you will need to first use the old Strimzi version and downgrade to some supported Kafka version.
