Custom patch question: Where are character widths managed?

I love this font, but I'm interested in changing a couple things for myself. Can I make any character double width or is that determined by Unicode standards? I'm particularly interested in making a double width '@' so the more common style doesn't looked crammed.

There is no out-of-box way to achieve this, because it breaks monospace rule. But you can modify the functions in transform.py and use them as util functions to expand glyph width.
