Display Sumatra window when open PDF

Hi,
If Sumatra is already open on my computer, when I open a new PDF (for instance : from an Explorer window), the file is open but remains behind the active window (in my example : Explorer window).
How can I force Sumatra window to become the active window and display above all the other windows?

hmm normally when called it would tend to focus to the front (unless other aps are running "always on top")
Some users have complained they don't want that when calling via scripting, so it depends on calling method.
Here when I open with SumatraPDF it will become foreground app

There must be a setting somewhere but I can't find it (I even deleted the sumatra-settings.txt to reinitialise all the settings). I've got this issue only with this software. Though i've been using SUMATRA for years and it seems is hasn't always worked like that.

It may be a recent change in windows 11 security as many PDF apps were affected by October added restrictions but it should not alter the apps own behaviour. What is needed here is more details like OS and versions and calling methods, however I cannot run win 11 at present to test if that is a newer factor.

In my win10 test I was using pre-release which is installed but neither should make any difference

Hi, I've got a similar problem as @noftalette, but only when opening a PDF from Thunderbird. From all other Apps Sumatra opens up in front, only out of Thunderbird Sumatra stays in the background.
BTW: Still on Win10 Pro ...

I found a solution with ChatGPT.

Here is the solution
Open the Windows Registry (regedit).

Go to this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
Find the value: ForegroundLockTimeout
Double-click it and check:
If the value is greater than 0, Windows is blocking new windows from coming to the front.
Set it to 0 (in Decimal), then restart the computer.

Though it works I didn't post it her because 1°/ I don't understand why this issue suddenly appeared and I didn't believe the registry had changed by itself and 2°/ nobody else witnessed having had the same issue.
