Description
Describe the problem
I understand the intent behind experimenting with a new font style for the main Svelte page, possibly as a nod to Rich's NYTimes background. However, I and many others find it increasingly difficult to read the full documentation and examples in the serif font.
This is not a question about personal style taste - there’s substantial research and evidence supporting the case that sans-serif fonts provide just the better reading experience on electronic displays. Sans-serif fonts is generally just more accessible and reader-friendly for the general user, let alone for individuals with reading difficulties such as dyslexia.
Describe the proposed solution
2 Options:
-
Reintroduce the sans-serif font for the documentation and examples.
-
Provide a toggle option to switch between the sans-serif font and the current version, similar to the TypeScript/JavaScript switch. Over time, evaluate user preferences and consider making the more popular choice the default font style.
Importance
nice to have
PS: of course you can say: just add an extension or custom css style that changes the font to your preference - but what minimal 0. % of people does that actually? Certainly not people who first encounter svelte and find it hard just reading the docs and rather leave.
