Maybe we should consider using [Benchmark](https://github.com/ordo-one/package-benchmark) to measure memory allocation and other performance-related metrics. Goals are 1. understand memory allocation pattern to reduce cold start time 2. establish a baseline performance test that we can use for regression testing
