You're right, thanks. I asked me that question when created boxes
objects (I not had identified that created them as items will have this
impact).
I thought the difference between an ‘item’ and a ‘location’ was the
ability to be moved...

If you define the boxes as locations, the behavior is already exactly
as you described.
When boxes are set up as storage locations, only the boxes/locations
are shown in the location view, not the individual items inside them.

What is the problem you are trying to solve with this feature?
I have a location (a shelf in a garage as an exemple) with many boxes that contain many items. I wish to see on the location page/view for that shelf only the boxes, not the items they are in.
What is the solution you are proposing?
Ability to filter the view to not see the items that are" sub-items"
What alternatives have you considered?
Ability to remove the location attribute of a sub-item (only the top-parent item would have a mandatoty location attribute)
