When pulling pictures down from the web many times I need to add a margin to keep the object from being cropped out in the thumbnail. When looking at the item the picture is fine. But when looking at the parent container the thumbnail is cropped. What rules should I follow to keep this from happening? I don't have any success with resizing only by adding a margin. You can try it with this photo. |

After further research I found #504. The thumbnail has a 2:1 aspect ratio so if you edit you photo and add a border so that it is 2:1 it will not clip in the thumbnail. |
