Ideas 2: Preset checkboxes for marking up items

I have these implemented as labels but perhaps they might be nice as preset/out of the box checkboxes that anybody to use.

1. Inventory Review / Processing

Label / Checkbox	Description
[ ] Accidental Duplicate	Items accidentally purchased twice; decide which to return, donate, or keep.
[ ] Duplicate Purchases	Items intentionally or accidentally bought more than once; keep one, donate or repurpose the rest.
[ ] For Parts	Items that contain potentially useful parts for other projects or repairs.
[ ] For Teardown	Items retained for learning, exploration, or component analysis.
[ ] To Donate	Items suitable for donation (e.g. working but no longer needed).
[ ] To Open	Items that have not yet been unboxed or opened.

2. Documentation & Data Entry

Label / Checkbox	Description
[ ] Homebox Data Entry	Items whose data needs to be added or updated in the Homebox inventory system.
[ ] To Register	Items that should be registered for warranty or manufacturer support.
[ ] User Manual Needed	Items that need user manuals to understand or use properly.

3. Disposal & Return

Label / Checkbox	Description
[ ] Disposed Of	Items already disposed of, for logging or tracking purposes.
[ ] For Safe Disposal	Items requiring regulated disposal (e.g. electronics, batteries, chemicals).
[ ] To Return	Defective or unwanted items still within the return or warranty window.
[ ] Returned Items	Items that have been returned but are kept in the system for historical tracking.

4. Repair & Maintenance

Label / Checkbox	Description
[ ] Being Repaired	Items that have already been sent out or taken in for repair.
[ ] To Repair	Broken or malfunctioning items worth repairing.

5. Photos Needed

Label / Checkbox	Description
[ ] Photos Needed	Items that are missing photos for the inventory and need to be documented.

6. Business Tracking

Label / Checkbox	Description
[ ] Business Asset	Items used for both personal and business purposes, tracked for depreciation or expense reporting.

7. For Sale

Label / Checkbox	Description
[ ] For Sale	Items being kept temporarily for resale (e.g., surplus, upgrades, etc.).

8. Safety & Risk

Label / Checkbox	Description
[ ] Hazards	Items that may pose a danger, especially to children (e.g., sharp tools, chemicals, unsecured electronics).
[ ] ChildSafe	Items specifically designed or manufactured with child safety in mind.

While I like a lot of these labels (needs repair, needs safe disposal etc.) and maybe a few of the default labels could be swapped out for these, it might be better to keep the core model as simple as possible.

I have to admit the "insured" checkbox is already annoying enough in my case and adding more would exacerbate that.

Maybe instead of building them in as checkboxes, a more scalable approach would be to allow for the creation of global custom properties so each user could create such things for their own instance without overburdening the default experience?

@agryson - Actually, I agree completely, and you make a good point. I don't think I've ever insured anything (don't tell my wife!) and most of the fields I don't fill out. So inflicting more unhelpful presets on others probably isn't the way to go.

Mostly, thought I'd share some of my lables in case any strike a chord in any way. The only ones I'm particularly fond of are actually the ones for "to donate" and "to give to friends" (etc). These have helped me not only get rid of stuff I didn't need, but find people to give it too.

Hey there! I'd like to say that this proposal is similar to one I was about to open until I saw this one.

I'm new to homebox and I'm starting to add items into it but I'd like to have some kind of automation that would add a default label for further review like the one proposed (Homebox Data Entry). In my case I'm adding manually the REVIEW for further processing but it would be a huge time saver to have already assigned label/tag when creating the items and/or to have as well the way of adding default information.

In applications like Paperless-ngx (https://docs.paperless-ngx.com/usage/#usage-recommended-workflow) you have that option and I think it would come in handy when the user is adding assets into homebox for the first time.
