@tonyaellie I agree with 1000 char limit being too small. I try to append to notes field whenever I use the item and crossed the character limit. I have been using the attachment to store my notes as notes.md but its cumbersome to update and reupload. Ability to edit P.S Custom fields are also not be useful in this case since they also have 500 char limit. |

+1 to this. Especially for users writing in non-Latin languages like Chinese, where each character often takes up 3 bytes. The current 1,000-character limit effectively becomes only about 330 characters for us, which is barely enough for any meaningful documentation or history logging. Increasing the limit or supporting in-place editing for .md attachments would be a huge improvement for international users. |

What is the problem you are trying to solve with this feature?
Setting such a low character limit severly limits the utility of the description field.
Because it already supports Markdown rendering, the description field could be used to have an entire knowledge base entry directly attached to an item, provided these two issues are solved.
