It makes it way easier for Linux users across many distributions to install the application.

What is the solution you are proposing?

A flatpak build of the application distributed to the flathub.org app store.

I'm not sure how well Homebox would fit the Flatpak model, since it's designed to run as a server application rather than a typical desktop app. I believe Flatpak is primarily intended for sandboxed desktop applications?

Yes, it's made for sandboxed desktop applications but, it's also distribution independent and easy to install.
I think even if Homebox is designed as server/webapp application it's possible to package and distribute as Flatpak app.
I have no numbers but I think there are a lot of users out there which doesn't use the application as a server/client app but more like a traditional desktop app.
