Thumbnail images cropped too tightly for tall/narrow items

I often use the Items section to quickly browse what’s inside a container, and I add pictures to nearly everything (usually from Amazon or the product page). One issue I’ve run into is that some thumbnails are so zoomed in that you can’t tell what the item is without reading the description.

It seems to happen with images that are tall and narrow rather than wide, which causes the preview to crop into just part of the item. For example, with bottles, the thumbnail often shows only the neck instead of the whole product.

Is there a way to have Homebox scale these images so the full item is visible in the thumbnail, without me manually editing each image?

Thanks, that issue describes the exact problem I'm facing. I didn't find it, because I was looking for 'thumbnails' in the title. I'll continue the discussion there.
