Error compiling bin file

When I try to create the bin file to install on the esp32 I get this error and I can't continue.

Are you using the ESPHome Add-On of Home Assistant?

I assume the HA Add-On has issues if the ESP-IDF framework is selected + external components are used. The build stack expects all parts of the puzzle on the same filesystem. In your case /data/cache/ and /data are different fileystems probably.

Solution 1:

Don't use ESP-IDF by removing these lines from the YAML:

  framework:
    type: esp-idf

Solution 2: Try to build the firmware without using the Add-On by installing ESPHome manually (pip3 install esphome) and build + flash the firmware from the commandline: esphome run esp32-example.yaml

Thank you very much for the reply!! It has worked with the first option, now I have it working and sending data to the home assistant, but there is no data, should the esp32 be connected directly to the bms? in the schematic it says to connect to the gpi04 and gpi05 pins, but they are not the rx and tx pins? Thank you!

Any GPIO of a ESP32 can be used as UART. Please make sure you have connected the BMS to the used GPIOs at the YAML. Please provide a photo if it doesn't work out of the box. May be you have to swap RX/TX once.
