For me, everything is broken. Most tests are failing. Going through the code to check but I suspect entire test_examples will need to be rewritten for current versions of cram and pytest!

None of the test cases that have a newline in the multiline string containing whitespace will be run successfully. This is because of change in _pytest.pytester.Testdir.makefile. Following is the code section from the method makefile.

       for basename, value in items:
            p = self.tmpdir.join(basename).new(ext=ext)
            p.dirpath().ensure_dir()
            source = Source(value)
            source = u"\n".join(to_text(line) for line in source.lines)
            p.write(source.strip().encode(encoding), "wb")
            if ret is None:
                ret = p

The problem is that source.strip() causes the 2 spaces added at the beginning of a cram test to indicate and empty output line. For example in testenv()

  $ echo "$CDPATH"
  

The trailing spaces are stripped. And the output fails.
