New Quest Viva Not Saving

So....

Despite the claims that this thing is supposed to save locally to our device, that is definitely not happening. I can't save any game at all.

What's going on? Is this an internal issue? An issue with Quest Viva?

If you drop a link to a game that fails to save, we'll see what we can dig up.

The way it should work:

• Save during play
  • it should respond "Game saved."
  • else it should print an error
• When we load the game after this (or restart the browser with the game loaded), it should have options:
  • Start from the beginning
  • Saved games

NOTES

• If there is an error in a game's code, Quest will not save successfully. In fact, the best way to see if a game has any major errors is to try to save while playing online. So, this may be game-specific, or it might be an unknown bug in Viva that involves certain characters in the code or something like that.
• It only works when using the same browser on the same device, and...
• Browser/device settings could effect this. It saves to the browser's Persistent Storage. There is a pop-up the first time I save in each new browser, confirming permission to use my browser's persistent storage. I had to allow pop-ups on my older Android device's Firefox app in order for it to work.

I clicked on "save" on the top right, but nothing happened. Like really, nothing happened. No prompt. No pop-up. Nothing.

Ah, I see.

Have these saved for you before, on the old web player? When I load them using the old player, they won't save there, either. Other games will save using either version of the web player, though. So, something in these games (perhaps not even the same thing in each game) is messing up saving.

Unfortunately, I don't see any errors that tell me anything. So all I can do right now is post the errors from my browser to save Alex a few steps.

I was getting this same error in my Easter game and fixed it earlier:

Something in my game.inituserinterface was calling a map function, and it seemed that Viva didn't have that stuff loaded at that point during the init process. In my game, I just moved that code to the start script, but it didn't cause any problems in the v5 web player before the change. I didn't have any saving issues in Viva before the change either, though. So, this probably doesn't help this particular issue very much, besides maybe ruling out a possibility.

The first game won't save in the desktop player, either.

It says the function NK_Main Route Start is missing from the game's code.

So, neither of these games will save on any platform, be it desktop, old web player, or Viva web player. The desktop player is the only one that shows us the reason, though.

The one that worked before might have been updated since then, maybe? (It shows it was updated 12 days ago.)

I don't think there were any changes to the desktop version that would make it more strict when checking that all the functions called in scripts are defined before saving.

Also, it is probable that one (or both) of these functions are actually in the game and the script calling the function has a typo in the function name. This might help if you can report the bug to the author.
