Just wanted to share this. I had been trying for awhile to port 5.9 to the mac with Wine. After trying different Wine builds, translation layers, registry changes, and Winetricks, I got nowhere. So, I thought I'd go ahead and bottle (with free software) Quest 5.8 and try out my ver 5.9 game with it. Sadly, it was crashing left and right. But, a million years ago I wrote and submitted a Crosstie to Crossover (a crosstie is essentially a file that functions as a recipe for installing Quest). Now, if you open Crossover, you can type in the name of Quest 5.8 under install, and quest shows up, you click it, and voila, Quest is in there working great (mostly for just playing games). I tested my Quest 5.9 file on it, and it no longer crashes. It could be that using the same build as the newest ver. of Crossover might work in other wine environments. But, for now, you can bottle it, make a shortcut to open your game in the bottle, and make an archive of the bottle that you could pass to other users. This advice only goes for macs that are apple silicon. The intel macs may be fine using regular old wine. Just wanted to share this. BTW, Quest 5.9 didn't work in crossover either =/. But, I'll keep trying.
