I'm not seeing any virtual text (sorry for being ignorant hehe)

so I made a file nvim-dap-virtual-text.lua

here's the content. I installed it with lazy.nvim

here is my basic dap and adapter setup for javascript

but I'm not seeing any virtual text as I debug line by line. I don't know what I did wrong

+1. Been trying to understand what's wrong, no errors no nothing.

Lazy.nvim loads plugin as an extension, dap works fine but no virtual-text is displayed even if I force :DapVirtualTextEnable

I had the same issue. In my case, I had forgotten to install the Tree-sitter parser for the language I was debugging. After installing it with :TSInstall, voilà — it works now.

Turns out something is going on. I have been ironically print debugging this thing and found out

set_virtual_text buf  /Users/james/bar/pythondebugtest/main.py 1
before treesitter.get_parser python <function 1>
using treesitter.get_parser
lang python

So there may be some confusion with nvim treesitter parsers and regular treesitter or something? need to double check

But yeah if i get it to take this path:

Just didn't make a PR since I wasn't since i havent spent the time to see what people would want as
preference on the main repo between builtin treesitter and nvim
treesitter and which to attempt or how to adjust the settings. this gets
past my issue for now
