Description
The number of pull requests that seem to have been written by AI Agents has noticeably increased over the last few months. This so-called "AI Slop" is wasting reviewer time. Still, I do personally feel bad about just closing PRs of first time contributors with minimal feedback. On the other hand, this seems to be the only efficient solution to stop wasting time. Therefore, I propose to take a similar approach as many of the popular scientific python libraries.
- Add an AI policy to the documentation.
- Add a Pull Request template that includes an AI disclosure section, a link to the AI guidelines and a checkbox that users have read and understood the AI policy.
After this has been implemented, suspected AI slop PRs will be closed without even a preliminary review with a note referring to the AI policy.
Example for an AI policy at Numpy: https://numpy.org/devdocs/dev/ai_policy.html
