Examples of behavior that contributes to a positive environment for our community include:

- Accepting responsibility and apologizing to those affected by our mistakes, and learning from the experience

Examples of unacceptable behavior include:
- The use of sexualized language or imagery, and sexual attention or advances of any kind
- Trolling, insulting or derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
- Public or private harassment
- Publishing others' private information, such as a physical or email address, without their explicit permission
- Conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting
- Spamming issues or pull requests with irrelevant content
- Deliberately disrupting discussions or community events
- Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior
Community leaders are responsible for clarifying and enforcing our standards of acceptable behavior and will take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any behavior that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.
Community leaders have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject comments, commits, code, wiki edits, issues, and other contributions that are not aligned to this Code of Conduct, and will communicate reasons for moderation decisions when appropriate.
This Code of Conduct applies within all community spaces, and also applies when an individual is officially representing the community in public spaces. Examples of representing our community include using an official e-mail address, posting via an official social media account, or acting as an appointed representative at an online or offline event.
This Code of Conduct also applies to behavior outside of community spaces when such behavior has the potential to adversely affect the safety and well-being of community members.
- Be Constructive: Focus on helping to improve the project and supporting other contributors
- Stay On Topic: Keep discussions relevant to the SCAN Gradle Plugin and its ecosystem
- Follow Best Practices: Adhere to coding standards, documentation guidelines, and testing requirements
- Respect Maintainer Time: Remember that maintainers are often volunteers with limited time
- Search Before Asking: Check existing issues and documentation before creating new issues
- Provide Context: When reporting bugs or requesting features, include relevant details and examples
- Be Responsive: Acknowledge contributions and issues in a timely manner
- Be Fair: Apply standards consistently to all community members
- Be Transparent: Explain decisions and reasoning when appropriate
- Be Supportive: Help newcomers learn and grow within the community
- Be Professional: Maintain professional standards in all interactions
- Use Clear Titles: Write descriptive titles that summarize the issue or change
- Provide Details: Include sufficient information for others to understand and reproduce
- Link Related Items: Reference related issues or pull requests when relevant
- Follow Templates: Use provided issue and pull request templates when available
- Be Patient: Allow reasonable time for review and feedback
- Accept Feedback: Be open to suggestions and constructive criticism

When reporting an incident, please provide:
- Your contact information (so we can get more details if needed)
- Names or usernames of any individuals involved
- Description of the incident including what happened and when
- Additional context such as screenshots, links, or other relevant information
- Your relationship to the incident (witness, target, etc.)
- All reports will be handled with discretion and confidentiality
- Details will only be shared with those necessary to address the situation
- We will not share reporter information without explicit consent
- We will take steps to protect reporters from retaliation
Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported to the community leaders responsible for enforcement at [email-will-be-added-soon].
All complaints will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly.
All community leaders are obligated to respect the privacy and security of the reporter of any incident.
- Initial Review: Reports are reviewed within 48 hours
- Investigation: We gather additional information as needed
- Decision: Community leaders decide on appropriate action
- Communication: We communicate the outcome to relevant parties
- Follow-up: We monitor for any ongoing issues
Community leaders will follow these Community Impact Guidelines in determining the consequences for any action they deem in violation of this Code of Conduct:
Community Impact: Use of inappropriate language or other behavior deemed unprofessional or unwelcome in the community.
Consequence: A private, written warning from community leaders, providing clarity around the nature of the violation and an explanation of why the behavior was inappropriate. A public apology may be requested.
Community Impact: A violation through a single incident or series of actions.
Consequence: A warning with consequences for continued behavior. No interaction with the people involved, including unsolicited interaction with those enforcing the Code of Conduct, for a specified period of time. This includes avoiding interactions in community spaces as well as external channels like social media. Violating these terms may lead to a temporary or permanent ban.
Community Impact: A serious violation of community standards, including sustained inappropriate behavior.
Consequence: A temporary ban from any sort of interaction or public communication with the community for a specified period of time. No public or private interaction with the people involved, including unsolicited interaction with those enforcing the Code of Conduct, is allowed during this period. Violating these terms may lead to a permanent ban.
Community Impact: Demonstrating a pattern of violation of community standards, including sustained inappropriate behavior, harassment of an individual, or aggression toward or disparagement of classes of individuals.
Consequence: A permanent ban from any sort of public interaction within the community.
If you believe you have been falsely or unfairly accused of violating this Code of Conduct, you may appeal the decision by:
- Contacting the maintainers at [email-will-be-added-soon] within 30 days
- Providing your perspective on the incident in question
- Including any additional evidence or context you believe is relevant
Appeals will be reviewed by community leaders who were not involved in the original decision when possible.

- The effective date will be updated
- Major changes will include a summary of modifications
- Community input may be sought for significant changes
