Is it possible to link new devices?

I tried using this today but ran into problems with signald. Specifically I can't link a device: mautrix/signal#388 which seems to be still unfixed upstream https://gitlab.com/signald/signald/-/issues/379

But if it's still unfixed, are people still able to use signal-weechat somehow? Is there a workaround? I still see commits in this repo.

I think people are using it with accounts that were linked before linking broke
