Trouble getting this to work

My custom field is of type "Text Field (single line)"

I installed ScriptRunner and downloaded the code here, dumped all the files except the README into /opt/atlassian/jira/atlassian-jira/WEB-INF/classes/jiracredits/scripts and followed the instruction in the README, but when I enter the path /opt/atlassian/jira/atlassian-jira/WEB-INF/classes/jiracredits/scripts/configurationScript.groovy I get the error:

unable to resolve class com.bd.rspeng.alwaysDisplaySelectList.AlwaysDisplaySelectList

I must have done something wrong..... It appears it can't find the stuff I just installed. Not sure how this works...and my patience is limited. Thank you for yours.

Let's try some basic troubleshooting. It finds the configurationScript.groovy file. That's good. Let's see if it can import a class from somewhere else:

Create a new file HelloWorld.groovy under /opt/atlassian/jira/atlassian-jira/WEB-INF/classes/jiracredits/scripts/com/foo

In that file, put the following code:

package com.foo

class HelloWorld {
    public HelloWorld() {
        println "Hello world!"
    }
}

Now replace configurationScript.groovy with:

import com.foo.HelloWorld

def myHello = new HelloWorld()

Does that error out when you load configurationScript.groovy as I describe in step #7 in https://github.com/theschles/JIRA_ScriptRunner_AlwaysDisplaySelectList/blob/master/README.md ?

Ok, I started from scratch and had the same result. I attempted to follow your instructions above:

# cd foo
# ls -l

package com.foo
class HelloWorld {
    public HelloWorld() {
        println "Hello world!"
    }

and then when I put the path to the configurationScript.groovy script in step #7 I got a similar error.

FWIW, my scriptrunner trial expires on 9/3 so if I can't get this working before then I guess I'll close this ticket, unless I can talk my company into purchasing it anyway.

Sorry I didn't respond until now. A bit swamped. Oy -- that's really odd that it won't resolve the class/package correctly.

FYI depending on your version of JIRA Server, you might be able to install the last "free" version of ScriptRunner.

Hi,
I'm facing the same error message:
unable to resolve class com.foo.HelloWorld
@ line 1, column 1.

We are running 7.4.5, ScriptRunner is installed adn active.
Path to scripts /data/atlassian/atlassian-jira-7.4.5/atlassian-jira/WEB-INF/classes/jiracredits/scripts/
However I tested in /data/atlassian/tmp as well.
Just wondering if groovy should be added to variables?

I'm seeing the same error - doesn't matter where I put the script. Running JIRA 7.5.2

My apologies to all. I am blocked by my current employer from doing any open-source coding -- and between them and my family, I'm completely swamped to boot -- so I'm not going to be able to fix this issue for a while. Keep an eye on this forum thread -- hopefully at some point in the future I'll post to test a fixed version.
