Feature request - add hyperlink capabilities to PDF plotting

When I'm running several orthogonal analyses on the same dataset

I would like to be able to ...
Link elements of a PDF such that clicking on them will open a plot from one of the orthogonal analyses. For example, in this upset plot:

I'd like to be able to click on the cell type names in the lower left and have the corresponding volcano plot automatically open:

And then I'd like the points and labels in the volcano plot to be linked to plots from another analysis when clicked, and so on.

Thanks for the report! I agree with you that this would be a nice feature to have. As far as I know, the PDF graphics device has no mechanism to include hyperlink text. This would preclude this functionality being exposed in ggplot2. Even if I'm mistaken and this would be possible, it would be a better fit in packages that are tailored to providing interactivity to plots, like {ggiraph} or {plotly}.

Also, this is already possible with ggiraph, you just have to use SVG instead of PDF. It's not clear to me that PDF is a good substrate for interactivity in any case, as PDF readers don't work like browsers.

Thanks for the example Claus. I think at this point we're not planning to implement PDF hyperlinking for the reasons outlined above.
