going to shellcut with broken path drops back to home directory

When I do sc <name> for a where the path no longer exists, I get dropped back into my home directory.

It doesn't actually drop back to the home dir. What's happening is cd fails to go to the unknown directory so it returns 1, but this error message is swallowed by the follow up command (clear + ls).
