KS-test

Can you please explain how to implement the Kolmogorov Smironov test ? 
In the linked research article - http://www.pe.org.pl/articles/2014/8/47.pdf it is mentioned that the median of the 2 samples is used in the KS test. It also mentions that the CDF's of the 2 samples are used. So, which metric must be used ? median or CDF ?

Can you pl give an example implementation in R/python ?
