■2025 1-3 Quarterly Report
OSPO Local Meetups in Japanese are typically held twice a month.
This quarter, the number of participants ranged from 7 to 22.
The largest turnout was hybrid meetup held at midokura Office in Tokyo Tamachi.
This was great opportunity to kick off 2025 with OSPOers in Japan, engaging with public sector for the first time!

This meetup was supported by not only TODO Group and Open Chain JWG but also by CNCJ (Cloud Native Community Japan) this time. Then, we can have new attendees from CNCJ, LF Japan and public sector IPA (Information-technology Promotion Agency). We discussed ROI, the current state of contributions, and Open Source Strategy. We gained new insights from CNCJ and valuable networking time in the fantastic environment of the midokura Office.

We had extensive discussions on how OSPO relates to Security and SBOM. Both depend on the organizations to which they belong. However, everyone agrees that OSPO possesses crucial knowledge and can assist or collaborate with the responsible person. According to the situation is different to each attendees, we will continue to discuss further.

We conducted a postmortem for the successful in-person meetup and discussed how to generate output. One idea is to present it at an IPA[*1] event. We are discussing the aims of contributions for each industry and the efforts needed to achieve those aim. Recently, we realized that the layers of services provided differ by industry, which affects the way they engage with OSS. We will continue the discussion by inviting IPA[*1].
