RTKCONV not doing anything?

Hi all,
I have a binary file I collected in base mode using pygpsclient.
when I choose the file and click on the convert button it doesn't generate an obs rinex file?
how do we troubleshoot this?
is there a sample file somewhere i can use to veryify it's workings?
i'm at a loss trying to figure out pygpsclient, maybe i've collected the wrong data, it's in base mode and it's spitting out rtcm messages from my queqtel lg290P
