Settings to distinguish clearly swipe and short swipe

I managed to fiddle as much with the settings as to a point where no more diagonal short swipes are detected, so effectively all the additional characters are not accessible any more
That is the cause this post has only few full stops etc.
I need to find a setting where

• a tap will generate the main character and not be interpreted as a swipe when the next tap comes too quick
• a short swipe reliably will generate the respective diagonal character and not be interpreted as a swipe

Can you give me advice on this questionmark
