Description
I propose expanding the comparison to include additional noteworthy keyboards, such as Urik, which has become quite usable for German-speaking users.
Here is a draft of what this expanded table could look like:
| Feature | Urik |
|---|---|
| Gesture Typing in Termux | ❓ |
| Gesture/Swipe Typing | ✅ Geometric |
| Multi-Language Swipe⁹ | ✅ (Simultaneous) |
| Gesture Engine Open Source | ✅ |
| ML Training Code Public | N/A (Geometric) |
| Model Size | N/A |
| APK Size | ~40 MB |
| Clipboard History | ✅ Encrypted |
| Short-Swipe Actions⁸ | |
| Per-Key Customization | ✅ |
| Custom Layouts | ✅ |
| DIY Theme Creator | ✅ |
| Word Suggestions | ✅ |
| No Internet Access | ✅ |
| License | ✅ GPL-3 |
Key Details for the Feature Request Body:
- Gesture Engine: Urik uses a geometric path matching engine (traditional algorithm) rather than a neural network, so it has no ML model to train (
N/Afor ML columns). - Short-Swipe Actions: Unlike CleverKeys' per-key flick support, Urik currently limits gesture shortcuts to the Spacebar (cursor control) and Backspace (delete word).
- German Support: Excellent support with native QWERTZ layouts and simultaneous multilingual spell-checking.
